Artist's Description

Pallbearers carry a casket containing their deceased relative to the final Cremation Site on the Indonesian Island of Bali. The people of Bali are predominantly Hindu and adherents of the religion are all cremated after they pass in what is called a Ngaben Ceremony.Despite the somber circumstances, the atmosphere is festive. The relatives want the spirit of the deceased to believe that they are okay; that they will survive and carry on without them. The body of the deceased is cremated within the sculpted body of a giant, Sacred Cow. Symbolically carrying their souls into the afterlife. ......bali, indonesia, travel, ngaben, black and white, funeral, cremation, ceremony, hindu, ubud, traditional, coffin, casket, balinese, men, travel, photography, village, burial, death, pyre, pallbearers, men, villagers, people, open air,
