Description
A Coral Reef is the ocean home to a Bajau Laut (Sea Gypsy) Village in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. The Sea Gypsies are a Tribe of people without a Country. They live in the ocean and seas between Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. They make their homes on tiny islands, boats, and huts built on to coral reefs. Their entire existence comes from the sea.

This is amazing to see and so very sad that people live like this. But who knows? Are they happy? Are they healthy? This is another moving and intriguing situation to witness. l/f
Earth And Spirit replied:
Yep Kay... Was totally intriguing & fascinating to be out there & seeing how these folks lived.

I saw some of these communities in Cambodia as well along the Mekong. Mostly Vietnamese refugees. It is mind boggling and heartbreaking at the same time. Your photo brought back a whole lot of memories and emotions (which means it is really great). I love the colors, the composition and the story it tells. bravo!

Hi Jason- an intriguing photograph of this unique & interesting way of life! The water looks so clean & colorful..! I wonder how those homes fair in a storm!! F&L!!
Earth And Spirit replied:
Hi Will. That's such a good question! It's an actual coral reef so the ocean here isn't so deep & is very calm.
