Pallbearers carry a giant sculpture that will be used as a funeral pyre, through their village to a Cremation Site on the Indonesian Island of Bali. The people of Bali are predominantly Hindu and adherents of the religion are all cremated after they pass in what is called a Ngaben Ceremony.
Despite the somber circumstances, the atmosphere is very festive. The relatives want the spirit of the deceased to believe that they are okay; that they will survive and carry on without them. The body of the deceased is cremated within the body of this sacred creature. Symbolically carrying their souls into the afterlife.
